Born in Granada, Ángela Lorite is a renowned mezzosoprano, teacher, and stage creator with over two decades of experience.
She began her musical calling in Menorca with the Orfeó Mahonés and graduated in Singing from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, completing her training under internationally prestigious masters and singers, including those from the Juilliard School de Nova York.
She made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu season, performing the roles of Azucena (Il Trovatore) and Maddalena (Rigoletto). Since 2017, she has been a regular figure in the Opera Cycle at the Palau de la Música Catalana, where she was appointed director of the «Carmen Opera Studio» Masterclass in 2019.
She stands out for her great versatility, a distinctive timbre, and a four-octave vocal range that allows her to tackle a vast repertoire spanning major operatic roles (such as Carmen, Amneris, Eboli, or Suzuki), zarzuela, Spanish music, and oratorio. Her career has unfolded across Spain’s main stages, such as the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Kursaal in San Sebastián, as well as in theaters throughout southern France, northern Italy, and Vienna, performing under the direction of renowned conductors like Gueràssim Voronkov and Xavier Puig.
In addition to founding the Onofre Janer Memorial Opera Gala in Menorca, her work as an author, director, and performer of lyrical, comedic, and interactive opera productions is particularly notable.
Among her most prominent projects are musical theater shows such as Dos Divas y un Destino—which enjoyed a two-month run at Teatre Gaudí de Barcelona between 2019 and 2020—and Zarzuela de Divas (2025). Likewise, she has promoted the genre among family audiences through children’s operas like Anécdotas de una Diva, El cuento de la ópera, and Carmencita, performed in theaters across Catalonia.
In her stage approach, Ángela Lorite’s voice fuses opera with illusion to transform singing into a true spell, immersing the audience in mysterious and interactive atmospheres through iconic scenes such as «L’Invocazzione di Ulrica», the dramatic intensity of «Stride la vampa», and the warmth and charisma of «Habanera from Carmen».
